Elton John – Take Me to The Pilot (BBC In Concert 1970)
High Quality: www.youtube.com If you feel that it’s real I’m on trial And I’m here in your prison Like a coin in your mint I am dented and I’m spent with high treason Through a glass eye your throne Is the one danger zone Take me to the pilot for control Take me to the pilot of your soul Take me to the pilot Lead me through the chamber Take me to the pilot I am but a stranger Take me to the pilot Lead me through the chamber Take me to the pilot I am but a stranger Well I know he’s not old And I’m told he’s a virgin For he may be she But what I’m told is never for certain

Great to see Madeline Bell and the late Lesley Duncan with Elton on this song. Is that Kay Garner also?

This is certainly one of EJs best tunes ever!! He really rocks on the keyboard!
Love all of the early stuff. Thanks for posting the BBC videos. They are awesome!
Peace

THE BEST ELTON JOHN SONG EVER!!!!

It doesn’t?
It’s obviously a love song.
To me it seems like he sings about someone he’d like a physical relationship with. Not an emotional one.
Because it’s much rougher than the typical lovesong.

Great song! just a general question for anyonewho has an answer, why dont we use that mic set up, with the mic for vocals actually ON the piano anymore? it seems much more convenient than what we do nowadays

i play guitar much better than piano, and when i try to play some of elton’s tunes from piano to guitar it ain’t easy in fact it just doesn’t translate properly no matter how good of a player thats just the way it is…just like trying to play some classic rock /guitarclassics on another instrument.
take a guitar orientated band like Creedence Clearwater Revival..now try playin some of their classics on piano oy organ/synthesizers..it just wouldn’t work well.

Lyricist Bernie Taupin was the wiz behind EJ’s songs without whom I doubt EJ would have achieved stardom. IMO.

This has to be one of the toughest songs to play…
I can’t play it on the guitar well enough to do it justice, for what that’s worth.

I’m inclined to agree with your interpretation. At least that’s the impression I received, even at ten years of age…
