I was born above my Busia’s bakery shop – the White Eagle Bakery – Piekarnia Bia?ego Or?a – in Dunkrk, NY. I grew up at the bakery and enjoyed eating a variety of Polish-ethnic baked goods during many different holidays over the years. The bakery has closed but the memories linger on. Thanks for posting this wonderful video.

The interviewer seems to be hung up on the 435 calories and 25 g of fat. The purpose of the paczki was to rid the kitchen of all the sweets before Lent so they wouldn’t go to waste. Once you ate the paczki, on Fat Tueday, you fasted and abstained for the 40 days of Lent.
Nowadays, people eat the Paczki, but don’t follow the fasting tradition afterwards.
